Summerzz Crammerzz

Hey
I knw i should have posted more frequently and right now i am short of excuses...i really dnt knw what i was doing these days.Time has passed by in a whisker and we r all set and done to njoy our last days at IFMR.Going back to the Summer training days and the ordeal of working in Govt Organization carries some lovely memories with it.Once u r in a govt organization u can take your time out as no one is really complaining...they are happy with their lives and it makes me realize that there is a world beyond the madrush of fancied designations, foreign tours and CTC's.I was lucky enough to have a project guide who understood my laziness :P and burdened me with lesser and lesser work as i kept on showing my incompetency.Tea,pakora and discussions about Ganguly's greatness and Dhoni's inability kept on bombarding my desk all through out the day(nt to forget i did my summerzz in Maharaja's city). And to add on were the prolonged lunch and recreation breaks we took.My project's main aim was to bring some creative solution so that I can be a 'VISIONARY' to the organization..reduce costs ,increase profits and be the saviour. But with only old aunties(sorry ladies) around, there was little chance for authentic creativity :) and with some many good pubs and resturants located nearby the motivation to stay in the office was very little. Finally after a demonstrating tremendous copy-pasting skills i was finally done with my project and boy was i HAPPY!!!!

An hr of HR...

After a Long weekend, bored with all the movies…it was HR to the rescue. Really the HR chemistry for its people is just amazing, seems like they only understand us.

HR or TM… ‘Talent Management’ whatever you would say, the name itself sounded like Trade Union type, problems of employee not compensated enough with the present compensation…but the reality was quite different.

Last term, we often did a world tour, around the globe…core being at Singapore…this term also doesn’t seem to differ, just the base shifted to the Gulfs. The unique ness of IFMR is that, without having an official onsite industrial tour, we have done plenty…that too in the first six months.

Back to the HR session, it seemed like Satyam was the most trustworthy company, exception being the corporate governance cell, but Raju still a true mentor for the Youth of the Truth (Satyam as understood in Sanskrit). The next target was Infy, or atleast the guys from Infy, to share their ‘Encyclopedia’ of Experience…of the corporate culture they were in.

Oh…how can I forget the basic of HR, respect others time…be on time…otherwise u gonna hear a short word in a sweet way… ‘Thank you, next day!’ The height was an Infy guy, caught while arriving late in the class, was still in the process of Chrysalises...was so much in it, that his experience at Infy was put in doubt! Really… oh yeah!

Last but not the least, the faculty, both with vast knowledge in this field, yet looked like poles apart…One was more like MCQ answer…as short and precise could be, the other being like ‘University Answer’ type…big talks irrespective of the marks of the question.

To sum up, the first session of HR was quite an extreme type…with all the highs and lows…looking forward to ‘Wise’ lectures.
